Management and Organisations in a Global Environment E-Learning Activ

Question: Discuss about theManagement and Organisations in a Global Environment for E-Learning Activities. Answer: Introduction The blend of market and adhocracy cultures of a company focuses more on customer needs through quality and innovations. With such cultural practices in the organisation, it indicates that the employees also are motivated in delivering the best services. Thus, they combine well with clan culture within an organisation. Regarding development of a culture in an organisation, a companys core values, consistency in instilling the culture and hiring procedures are among the major areas to consider. For a culture to work effectively within the organisation, the support of the staff working as a team is required. To foster the culture further, involving the community through corporate social responsibilities is important. E-learning Activities Corporate Culture and Strategy Maintaining a corporate culture within and organisation requires more than employee involvement. Consumers and other external stakeholders also have a share in a growing and sustaining a companys culture that blends well with their strategies (Gable, Madaus and Stufflebeam, 2012). Being among the loyal users of Apple Inc. products, I have experienced a mixture of culture from the company that makes a customer feel satisfied. Furthermore, it makes one feel being part of the progress the company achieves. In the context of the business practices, their market culture focuses on consumers ensuring all their concerns on product quality, support services, and brand awareness are well addressed. This routine in their operations makes one (as a customer) be satisfied with both the goods and services they offer. Further, an adhocracy culture of the organisation has enabled it to conform to the requests of their clients. Regularly, they update their Operating systems and innovate new features in their devices. What is more, their pace of innovations has made it possible for me as a consumer to become loyal to the brands the company launches. It becomes hard for a person to shift from one company to another when he/she is receiving the best quality and the latest technology at all time. This is the case with Apple Inc., where their organizational culture has a significant focus on their consumers as well as the staff working with it. A reflection of their culture is always seen from the marginal profits it makes annually due to increased sales. According to how the company undertakes its operations, its focus is satisfying the consumers of its products since they are the primary drivers of any growth an organisation can undergo (Research and Ideas, 2011). In essence, the organisation operates on the rule of people first, business operations second. Such an approach makes it possible for an agency to gain a huge market share since productivity is high courtesy of the customer friendly culture (Guiso, Sapienza and Zingales, 2015, p. 68). Regarding the strategies, the company aims at impressing both its consumers, stakeholders and staff through incentives, special offers and free consultations. Apples corporate culture and strategy blend perfectly, and this has been the reason behind the success it has enjoyed for many years now. Particularly, the telecommunication company is among the most valuable international businesses in the world. As an indicator of a positive impact of successfully integrating corporate culture to organizational strategies, the customers are always satisfied, operations are not impaired, and employees are retained for long (Baumgartner, 2013). This has been the case at Apple Inc., and as a result, its market share has always stayed high and profits continuously increasing despite the many Corporate Social Responsibilities programs they carry out around the world. Corporate Culture Instilled in HRM Practices and Customer Satisfaction The desire to develop a culture-based company underpins the importance of having a fixed routine that not only sounds good to the employees but also blends well with the strategies of the organisation. Achieving such a milestone needs several considerations. First, the core values of the institutions are to be considered. Determining what the companys purposes are is a step towards developing a culture that supports the visions and missions that are in place. With the use of companys values, it is easier to design a culture that promotes employee retention and client satisfaction (Galpin, Whitttington and Bell, 2015). Therefore, as companies aim at moving towards being culture-based, their core values have to be compatible with the desired culture to avoid clashing with its strategies. This is according to Tony the CEO for Zappos (2009). Second, hiring people who fit the culture of the organisation is key. As pointed by Bill Taylor (2008) from Zappos, if there have to be deeply engaged customers, there also has to be deeply engaged employees. For this reason, the selection process of personnel has to be critical to obtain the bright minds needed in driving the companys culture to greater new levels. Although at some point it might be difficult to ascertain the exact personalities needed, a continuous evaluation of the workforce is essential. Third, it takes strong leadership to develop a corporate culture that will not easily clash with the strategies of the company. Leading by example in implementing the culture adapted motivated the rest of the staff and made them believe in the visions of the organisation. Consequently, the effect will be transferred to the customers making it possible to maintain a higher share of the market. Fourth, consistency is paramount in developing a culture-based company. When you come up with some programs to promote performance and productivity of the workforce, make it more frequent so that it can instill the values to all the members of the organisation (Rishi and Moghe, 2013, p. 21). When leaders consider the staff as a team rather that independent individual, it will be easy to integrate all the ideas at once and share one common goal at all times. Lastly, the community is a key player in determining the success of an organisation with a culture that benefits them. Giving back to the society as a cultural practice by an organisation not only improves the loyalty of customers to their brands but also attracts more through brand awareness during the CSR activities. Conclusion As a consumer to products from a particular company, one is bound to experience their corporate culture through various ways including experiential consumption and services offered. Again, the employees too experience and drive the culture efficiently and through them, it reaches the external stakeholders, i.e., consumers and community as a whole. In developing a culture-based company, the core values of an organisation are vital in determining if it will clash with the existing strategies. With a carefully crafted culture, the operations of an organisation cannot be reversed by the practices. It, therefore, relies on leadership practices to guide how the culture will be integrated into activities. References Baumgartner, R. (2013). Why Did The Textile Workers Union In The Southern Essay Example For Students

Why Did The Textile Workers Union In The Southern Essay United States SpreadWhy did the textile workers union in the southern United States spread so rapidly? The textile industry was, at one time, one of the largest industries in the south. Starting in the late 1800s with small local looms, and spreading to become corporations who controled the south and whose influence stretched internationally. One of the first textile industries came to Gaston County North Carolina, and its huge success led to the opening of mills across the Carolinas and Virginia. As these industries grew they began to control more and more of its employees lives. These huge corporations were permitted to take advantage of individuals because of their inability to fight back. The employyees of these mills lived in conditions resembling that of slaves before the civil war. They were worked greuling hours in inhospitable prisons called textile plants, yet were paid on average less than any other industrial worker in America. In the early twentieth century a sentiment of contempt began to grow between the laboring class and the all-powerful corporation. The masses began to push for union representation. We will write a custom essay on Why Did The Textile Workers Union In The Southern specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The importance of this industry is represented by the industries numbers. Textiles was the foundation of southern economy. In 1900 there were one hundred seventy-seven mills in North Carolina, but by the early nineteen twenties, that number had grown to over five hundred, with fifty in Gaston County alone. Textiles was a booming industry in the south. South Carolina employed only 2,053 people in the industry at the turn of the century, but by 1920 nearly 50,000 people worked in mills, one sixth of South Carolinas population. Virginias textile industry grew just as quickly with the incorporation of the Riverside Cotton Mills which had only 2,240 spindles and a mere one hundred looms. By the turn of the century the mill expanded and operated 67,650 spindles and 200,000 looms. Growth seemed to continue almost exponentially until the depression set in in 1929. It could easily be said that the depression was the cause of the ill will that the workers felt toward their employers. Although the mills seemed to be doing great, grossing sales in the billions of dollars, the working class in the mills were seeing very little of the industries success. Textile workers earned less than any other laborer, and in North Carolina average wages were the least. With the success as abundant as it was in the textile industry, it is no wonder that the laborers sought uninization since they were seeing so little of the profit at their end of the industry. In 1902 only one textile workers union had been created in Virginia was reported by the state Labor Commisioner. It had forty members, of whom none were employed (Smith 52). So, massive strikes were impossible to organize and because of this the workers had little leverage. There were still small local strikes that were mostly unsuccessful. One of which was reported in Mill on the Dan. When Samuel Gompers, president of the American Federation of Labor visited Danville, Virginia where in response to their attempts to organize hoped to catalyze the endeavors. A single mill went on strike in a city that was supported by five others. The company did not compromize, and slowly the workers trickled back to their jobs. In 1929 the first notable strike broke out in Gaston County. This massive strike was preceded by a breif strike in nearby Mecklinburg County, and other smaller labor disputes in counties surrounding Gaston, but this strike, called the Loray Mill Strike, began the massive spread of unionization sentiment in the south. The year of 1929 marked the boom of the spread of unionization in the south, agitated by the success of the Loray Mill strike. .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 , .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 .postImageUrl , .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 , .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6:hover , .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6:visited , .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6:active { border:0!important; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6:active , .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6 .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ub444d87eac78e3515b521f55193224d6:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Kimberly Clark Case Study EssaySouth Carolinas, as well as Virginias industry executives were fearing the spread of this push for unization would spread across North Carolinas borders and into their states. 5 Ways to Repair Misused Em Dashes

5 Ways to Repair Misused Em Dashes 5 Ways to Repair Misused Em Dashes 5 Ways to Repair Misused Em Dashes By Mark Nichol Em dashes are handy little items for setting phrases apart for special attention, but be cautious when employing them, because when misused, they can obscure rather than assist in comprehension: 1. â€Å"For the most part, this water comes from aquifers that’s groundwater or from surface waters that is, rivers and lakes.† When em dashes come in pairs, what lies between is a parenthetical digression that merits a more dramatic break than that indicated by a brace of commas or two parentheses. If the parenthetical phrase ends the sentence, however, only a single em dash is needed. But three or more em dashes in one sentence creates an ambivalence in the sentence structure. In this case, it’s better to use parentheses and to avoid mixing em dashes and parentheses for digressions of equal or parallel impact, use them for the second digression as well: â€Å"For the most part, this water comes from aquifers (that’s groundwater) or from surface waters (that is, rivers and lakes).† 2. â€Å"Her recent roles have shown her interest and her ability to go beyond the usual popular movie.† Be careful that when a phrase is parenthesized, what precedes and follows it is grammatically sound: â€Å"Her recent roles have shown her interest in going and her ability to go beyond the usual popular movie.† 3. â€Å"The collapses could play out in the seven states that rely on the Colorado River and its tributaries Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming as ever-increasing water use, ever-growing population and a changing climate shrink the flow.† If the parenthetical delineates a list or the parts of a whole, as here, the opening em dash should immediate follow the whole: â€Å"The collapses could play out in the seven states Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming that rely on the Colorado River and its tributaries as ever-increasing water use, ever-growing population and a changing climate shrink the flow.† (Otherwise, the sentence identifies the states as tributaries.) 4. â€Å"There may be a decrease in prices- but incomes are rising- so that outcome may not happen.† When you use an em dash, you should know what you’re getting yourself into. In this sentence, the writer meant to set off the entire second clause, not just the parenthetical, which is bereft without the phrase following the second em dash: â€Å"There may be a decrease in prices- but incomes are rising, so that outcome may not happen.† 5. â€Å"Maybe it’s just because no matter how many people have been through here the space remains the same, seemingly untouched by human hands.† By the same token, many sentences simply don’t merit even a single em dash there’s nothing to mark off for emphasis. Perhaps the writer meant to place the em dash in lieu of the comma after same, rather than the one following here, but commas suffice in both positions: â€Å"Maybe it’s just because no matter how many people have been through here, the space remains the same, seemingly untouched by human hands.† Want to improve your English in five minutes a day?
